A new series of sculptural arrangements interrogate the transformative qualities of displacement and synthetic imitation. Off the shelf materials and objects are stacked, stretched and skewed in a subtle inversion of function and form. Rock (PVC) and glass (Privacy film) become hollow and paper thin. Rocks are as if copy and pasted, placed one on top of the other in an apparent extrusion from the gallery floor. Mirrors pulled across stretcher bars take on apparition like transparency. Through the interpretation of natural procedures by mechanical processes, gravity and density oscillate between fact and fiction in a place where physical ambiguity lies in a thinly veiled dimension. Jack Lovell was born in 1991. He currently lives and works in London, UK.
